This Privacy Policy explains how Evolv ("Evolv," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Evolv mobile application and related services (the "Service"). Evolv is a sobriety and recovery support app. We care deeply about the privacy of the people who use it, and we have tried to write this in plain language.
Evolv is for adults. The Service is intended only for individuals who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Important: Evolv is a wellness and self-help tool. It is not a medical device, and it does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. See our Terms of Service for more.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account information — your email address when you sign up or join our waitlist.
- Recovery and tracking data — the information you choose to enter, such as the addiction(s) you track, your sobriety start dates, check-ins, milestones, journal entries, your personal reasons, and urge logs.
- Messages to Elder — the content of conversations you have with Elder, our in-app AI support feature.
Information collected automatically
- Usage and device data — basic information about how you use the Service and the device you use, to keep the app working and improve it.
- Website analytics — our website uses Google Analytics to understand general traffic. This is separate from the app.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide the Service and your personal tracking, journaling, and recovery features;
- Power Elder, our AI support feature, so it can respond to your messages;
- Sync your data across your devices and back it up so you don't lose your progress;
- Manage subscriptions and free trials;
- Maintain, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Service;
- Communicate with you about the Service, including launch and account updates;
- Comply with our legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your recovery data or your conversations with Elder to advertise to you.
3. How Your Information Is Stored and Shared
We use trusted third-party providers to operate the Service. We share only what is needed for these providers to perform their function, and they are bound to protect your information.
- Supabase — hosts our database and stores your account and recovery data securely.
- Cloudflare and Anthropic — when you message Elder, your message is sent through a Cloudflare service to Anthropic, the provider of the underlying AI model, so a response can be generated and returned to you.
- RevenueCat and app stores — when in-app subscriptions are available, RevenueCat together with the app store you downloaded Evolv from (such as the Apple App Store or Google Play) process and manage your subscription and payment. We never receive or store your full payment card details.
- Google Analytics — provides aggregate website traffic analytics.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the safety of a person, or in connection with a business transfer such as a merger or acquisition.
4. Elder and AI Features
Elder is an AI-powered support feature. Messages you send to Elder are processed to generate a response. Please do not rely on Elder for medical, legal, or emergency help. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, contact your local emergency services immediately — in the U.S. you can call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline).
5. Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see "Your Choices" below). Some information may be retained where required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as security and fraud prevention.
6. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, email us at hello@evolv.now. You can also delete your account from within the app, which removes your associated tracking data.
If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. If you are in the EEA or UK, you have rights under the GDPR. We honor these requests regardless of where you live.
8. International Users
Evolv is operated from the United States. If you use the Service from outside the U.S., your information will be processed in the U.S. and other countries where our providers operate.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above, and where appropriate we will notify you in the app or by email.
